What is Shae butter in lotions and soaps? Where does shae butter come from?
Shea butter is an ingredient moisturizing heavy-ish. It is a natural fat derived from grinding the nut of the shea tree in Africa. It is a yellow oil, smelling sweet it freezes into a paste thick fat in its purest form. It is edible and sometimes used as a substitute for cocoa butter in chocolate. However, in cosmetics and soap is a moisturizing ingredient. It is a good moisturizer, a deep moisturizer is highly recommended for people with very dry skin.
