The common medications prescribed by doctors are Imiquimod, Podophyllin and podofilox, and Trichloroacetic acid or TCA. Imiquimod is available in the form of a cream in the market under the brand name Aldara. This cream acts directly on the immune system of the body. It induces the body to fight against the genital warts. When you are using this cream, any type of sexual activity must be avoided. Podophyllin and Podofilox are plant-based resins that have a remarkable property of destroying the genital wart tissues. Trichloroacetic acid is a chemical that burns away the genital wart.

The Trichloroacetic acid application must be carried out under the keen eye of a medically trained individual. A doctor or at least a nurse must attend to the process. This is so because the acid may burn the skin. Hence, do not carry out the wart removal process using TCA at home on your own – consulting an expert is the safest bid. Also, for all the other creams and preparations, do take medical advice before using them.

A good genital wart remover uproots the genital warts permanently. The available removal methods may not do so, but they do provide the much needed relief.
